Hintergrund

Eine Meta-Analyse aus fünf RCTs an Patienten mit RDS ohne Obstipation belegt für Rifaximin eine geringe, aber signifikante Wirksamkeit hinsichtlich der Linderung eines globalen Symptomscores und von Blähungen * Menees, S. B., Maneerattannaporn, M., Kim, H. M., Chey, W. D., The efficacy and safety of rifaximin for the irritable bowel syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis. Am J Gastroenterol, 2012. 107(1): p. 28-35; quiz 36.. Die unerwünschten Wirkungen waren auf Placebo-Niveau * Schoenfeld, P., Pimentel, M., Chang, L., Lembo, A., Chey, W. D., Yu, J., et.al. Safety and tolerability of rifaximin for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome without constipation: a pooled analysis of randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trials. Aliment Pharmacol Ther, 2014. 39(10): p. 1161-8.. Rifaximin therapy for patients with irritable bowel syndrome without constipation. N Engl J Med, 2011. 364(1): p. 22-32..
Repeat Treatment With Rifaximin Is Safe and Effective in Patients With Diarrhea-Predominant Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Gastroenterology, 2016. 151(6): p. 1113-1121., http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27528177.

SynbiotikaThieme, 2009.* Ford, A.C., Harris, L.A., Lacy, B.E., Moayyedi, P.d, Systematic review with meta‐analysis: the efficacy of prebiotics, probiotics, synbiotics and antibiotics in irritable bowel syndrome. Aliment Pharmacol Ther, 2018. 48(10): p. 1044-1060..

Systematische Übersichten von Ford et al * Ford, A. C., Quigley, E. M., Lacy, B. E., Lembo, A. J., Saito, Y. A., Schiller, L. R., et.al. Efficacy of prebiotics, probiotics, and synbiotics in irritable bowel syndrome and chronic idiopathic constipation: systematic review and meta-analysis.

Effects of probiotic type, dose and treatment duration on irritable bowel syndrome diagnosed by Rome III criteria: a meta-analysis.

Hintergrund

Präbiotika sind unverdauliche Nahrungsbestandteile, die den Wirtsorganismus günstig beeinflussen, indem sie das Wachstum oder die Aktivität von bereits residenten Bakterien im Kolon stimulieren * Gibson, G. R., Roberfroid, M. B., Dietary modulation of the human colonic microbiota: introducing the concept of prebiotics. J Nutr, 1995. 125(6): p. 1401-12., http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7782892.
Efficacy of prebiotics, probiotics, and synbiotics in irritable bowel syndrome and chronic idiopathic constipation: systematic review and meta-analysis. A., Artan, R., Yilmaz, A., Efficacy of synbiotic, probiotic, and prebiotic treatments for irritable bowel syndrome in children: A randomized controlled trial. Turk J Gastroenterol, 2016. 27(5): p. 439-443.. A., Vulevic, J., Tzortzis, G., Gibson, G. R., Clinical trial: the effects of a trans-galactooligosaccharide prebiotic on faecal microbiota and symptoms in irritable bowel syndrome. Aliment Pharmacol Ther, 2009. 29(5): p. 508-18..
